Welcome! My name is Fon, and I’m happy to have you stay with us. My family and I are local coffee farmers here in Doi Mae Mon, a beautiful mountain area known for its rich Akha tribe heritage and some of the best arabica coffee beans in Thailand. It’s always been my dream to share this special place with visitors like you, and I’m so excited to welcome you to our accommodation.

Doi Mae Mon is just a 45-minute drive from Chiang Rai city, offering stunning mountain views, peaceful surroundings, and a chance to experience the “real” traditional Thailand. Here, you’ll find charming local coffee shops, breathtaking scenery, and a serene escape from the crowds.

We had such a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was spacious, extremely clean, and fully equipped with everything we needed. What truly made our stay special was the owners. They were incredibly kind, welcoming, and thoughtful. They paid attention to even the smallest details and made us feel genuinely cared for throughout our stay. The food was absolutely amazing. Everything tasted homemade, fresh, and clean, which made it even more special knowing that the owners prepare the food themselves with so much care and love. And the view… simply breathtaking. The scenery changes every few hours as the clouds move and take different paths across the mountains. Watching the clouds shift and transform was such a peaceful and magical experience. Honestly, I wish I could live here forever. This place feels like a little piece of heaven, and we will definitely remember our stay with so much love. 🤍

We loved our two-night stay at Above the Clouds. The location was gorgeous and our stay was so relaxing. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and the food they provided was delicious! They even accommodated our dietary restrictions including being vegetarian and my wife being gluten free.

Amazing. We had the large room/house. It was beautifully furnished, with everything you could possibly need. Superbly done. The hosts are fantastic. Incredibly warm, welcoming, and absolutely wonderful people. The journey there is a bit adventurous, but the hosts, the house, and of course the breathtaking view make all of that fade into insignificance. We'll definitely be back.

📍Above The Clouds We chose to stay in the Suite with Hot Tub, which is the front villa with an unobstructed view. The view of the sea of mist in the morning was truly stunning, like sleeping on a cloud. Overall, we were very impressed with this place. If we have the opportunity to visit Chiang Rai again, we will definitely stay here again. The accommodation is surrounded by a panoramic view of the sea of mist and mountains, truly living up to its name by giving the feeling of being on a cloud. The highlight is the large jacuzzi on the balcony, where you can soak in warm water while enjoying the unobstructed mountain view. The nature is peaceful, the atmosphere is romantic and very private, perfect for a romantic getaway. Warm service: Khun Fon, the owner, took very warm and friendly care of us. Rooms and amenities: The rooms are elegantly designed, clean, and face the mist. Amenities are complete. Delicious food: They offer a delightful afternoon tea set and homemade dinner and breakfast, which taste delicious and feel like eating at home.

Great location overlooking the valley sitting in the balcony or taking Jacuzzi bath. Clouds are really visible in an eye level. Tranquil surroundings and beautiful sunrise. Actually the place is in a tiny village perched in a Chiang Rai coffee plantation. Best coffee and coffee beans available everywhere. Fon and Voucher both are amazing and great. Breakfast and dinner are all great specially the authentic Akha style dishes in dinner. Well recommended. Love the place and will come back definitely.

Truly lived up to it’s name: Above The Clouds ☁️ Beautiful landscape, hospitality, cleanliness, delicious homemade dishes cooked by Fon’s Mom etc Lovely hosts: Fon & her husband runs the homestay themselves. Strong wifi and movie apps entertainment provided in the hotel’s TV. Zero lag. I don’t have to on air con during the day, it’s cooling & windy weather keeps the room naturally cool. Jacuzzi Bathtub is the main highlight! One of the best I’ve experienced thus far. Just need to on earlier like 1hr-1.5hr for the water level to be right. Shower pressure & temperature were spot on too. Pleasantly surprised considering living high up in the mountain. Love the nature & peaceful atmosphere here. Bought some homemade coffee from them too! Was informed Doi Mon is famous for its coffee! Nearby can visit Hydrangea San. Awesome view with lots of hydrangeas, great picturesque views! The homestay offers free transportation to Hydrangea San too! Will be back next time!🥰

Wonderfull location, small paradise up in the mountains. Perfect spot to relax and escape the busy city. Fon And Wouter are amazing hosts. Super friendly and always ready to help when needed. The food is wonderfull and dinner is made by Fon's mom where you can really taste te love. Rooms are very clean and have everything you need for a relaxing stay. We would highly recomment a stay at above the clouds and will for sure come back next time we are in the chiang rai area.

We had an amazing time at Above the Clouds in Chiang Rai! Fon and her husband Wouter were very kind and made sure our stay was perfect. The location is beautiful and peaceful, albeit a little difficult to get to. The hosts offer pickup and drop off from Chiang Rai which we would absolutely recommend. The town is full of coffee shops with beautiful views, all of which the hosts are willing to drive you to for free. We wish we could have stayed for longer, and we 100% recommend stopping here if you’re in Chiang Rai!

Where do I even begin?! There are no words to describe how wonderful our 3-night stay was – truly Above The Clouds and beyond expectations! It was an absolute pleasure to be hosted by Fon and Wouter, the owners of the homestay and one of the warmest, most genuine couples we’ve met. We booked the Grand Deluxe Villa and were blown away by the postcard-worthy mountain views and the incredible attention to detail throughout the property. From impeccable cleanliness to absolute comfort, the villa was exceptionally well maintained, with everything feeling new and of great quality. Fon and Wouter truly know how to make their guests feel at home. Throughout our stay, communication via WhatsApp was seamless, whether for meal times or anything else we needed. The homestay felt very exclusive, and our privacy was always highly respected. Beyond being wonderful hosts, Fon and Wouter took the time to chat with us, answer our questions, and happily shared stories about the property, the village and the activities to do in the city. Their hospitality was filled with warmth, love, and sincerity. A true highlight of our stay was Fon’s mother. We were incredibly lucky to try her home-cooked traditional Akha food – every meal was absolutely outstanding! We looked forward to dinner each day, and just when we thought the food couldn’t get any better, it somehow did each night! From home-cooked breakfasts to hearty afternoon tea and uniquely delicious dinners, we were so well fed and happy throughout our stay. Full bellies and even fuller hearts.
